Preparation:

Our desire is to include everyone who wants to participate in Ride for Missions Florida, so the days will be a little shorter than on other rides (50-60 miles per day) and on fairly level roads. We suggest that riders cover around 200 miles in preparation for the ride.


Bring the bike you are used to riding (the one you trained on). However, consider the following:

  • Road and hybrid-style bicycles are preferred over mountain bikes, because of tire size and effort required to operate.
  • Be sure your equipment is in top mechanical condition prior to the ride.

Here are the other things you will want to bring:

  • A parent (if you are under the age of 16)
  • Release Form signed by parent (if you are under the age of 16)
  • Helmet (required)
  • Bike mirror (required)
  • “Mr. Blinky” tail light (required)
  • Rain gear (required)
  • Map holder (weather proof)
  • Bicycle riding shorts (not required but strongly suggested for comfort)
  • Sunglasses
  • Bicycling gloves and shoes
  • Spare tubes (2)
  • Tire changing tools and pump (make sure the pump fits your tire valves)
  • Tube patch kit
  • Water bottles (2)
  • Chain repair kits
  • Windbreaker
  • Bible
  • Clothes and toiletries (will be carried in the support vehicle)
  • Disposable gloves (several pairs)
  • Small tool kit that fits individual bikes
  • Bike lock
  • Trained legs
