Over the next few weeks we will be introducing our 2019 Interns. This group of seven REACH graduates will spend the year deepening their relationship with God, serving at the RIC, and being discipled. RI is grateful for their hard work and is excited to see them grow this year.
This year’s prayer intern, Damian, comes to Columbus all the way from Phoenix, Arizona, where he grew up. Some of Damian’s favorite things to do are play soccer, kayak, hike, snow board, swim, rock climb, and be with animals. Damian’s long list of preferred activities can probably be attributed to the fact that he loves trying new things: “Whether it be food or new skills or just trying something that I’m not normally comfortable with, I always find those things to be exciting and fun.”
“He knows that this role will stretch him and push him outside of his comfort zone, but he looks forward to the new ways God will grow him during this year.”
Last year, he enjoyed the new experience of traveling to the Flathead Reservation in Montana with the REACH program. While there he learned to find joy even in challenging circumstances. “When hard things happened I had to surrender and stay strong and persevere and push through, but then I learned to not necessarily be miserable through that, but being able to be joyful.” He hopes to continue learning this lesson during his year of internship at the RIC.
As the prayer intern, he spends his days praying for all of the interns and leading group intercessions. He knows that this role will stretch and push him outside of his comfort zone, but he looks forward to the new things God will teach him during this year through that process.
Pray for Damian and the other interns as they get to know each other and begin working in their roles. Pray that God will use them to impact the many people who come to the RIC in the following year.
